The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place as the Town of Good Hope in 1905.[5] The community was so named on account of the first settlers' "good hope" their town would grow to become prosperous.[6]

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 210 people, 85 households, and 66 families residing in the town. The population density was 119.2 people per square mile (46.1/km²). Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.95% of the population.

There were 85 households out of which 27.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.6% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.2% were non-families. 17.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.78.
